Based on the managerial philosophy that “all changes occur at the side of the end consumers,” Daio Paper entered the consumer goods market with household paper products and absorbent products. Through product development and sales strategies that flexibly respond to diversifying lifestyles and capture the latent needs of consumers, Daio Paper achieved top market share in the household paper market.

●Daio Paper starts manufacture and sale of baby disposable diapers
1981
●Daio Paper begins manufacture and sale of carbonless paper
●Reclamation work begins at Section C of the Muramatsu Industrial Park (Continues until June 1988)
1982
●Daio Paper begins manufacture and sale of sanitary napkins begins
●Daio Paper hosts first annual Elleair Ladies Open Golf Tournament.
1983
●Mishima Mill is selected as Japan’s Top 100 Cutting-Edge Businesses in the FA category
●Daio Paper starts sale of facial tissue paper in packs of five.
1984
●Daio Paper stock is upgraded to the first section of the Osaka Securities Exchange
1985
●Operation of mill-wide system begins
(First-ever general production management system in the pulp and paper industry rolls out sequentially).
1986
●Daio Paper acquires No. 1 market share in facial tissue paper.
1987
●Daio Paper holds ground-opening ceremony for machine N7 and other facilities and begins construction of Mishima Coastal Mill
1988
●Daio Paper stock is relisted on the first section of the Tokyo Securities Exchange Market
●Daio Paper installs turbine N11 at New Mishima Mill (In-house electric power generation reaches 100%)
●Daio Paper achieves No. 1 market share in toilet tissue
1989
●Daio Paper establishes forestry company “Forestal Anchile Ltda.” in Chile, South America
1990
●Daio Paper completes plan for new facilities, the Mishima Coastal Mill
●Daio Paper becomes the first in Japan to make available a full line-up of recycled kraft paper
1992
●Daio Paper establishes Elleair Texel Corporation and enters adhesive paper market
1993
●Daio Paper marks its 50th anniversary since foundation
●Daio Paper enacts the DAIO Global Environment Charter
1996
●Daio Paper establishes Iwaki Daio Paper Corporation
1998
●Iwaki Daio Paper Corporation wins the Excellent Cutting-Edge Business Facility Award of the Nikkei, Inc. (in recognition of leading enterprises in consideration for the environment, etc.)
●Daio Paper becomes the first in the industry to start manufacture and sale of newsprint made from 100% recovered paper.
1999
●Daio Paper wins the “Environment Agency Director General’s Award” at the 8th Annual Global Environment Awards
(in recognition of companies that contribute to the coexistence of industrial development and global environmental conservation)
