The Heart Support Project of Elis Compact Guard Helps Women Taking on Challenges Around the World

In further pursuit of its management philosophy, “Shaping an Abundant and Affable Future for the World,” Daio Paper runs the Heart Support Project, an initiative to support women around the world. The project, which started in 2018, will be implemented for the fifth time in 2023.
(It was canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.)

Daio Paper began the Heart Support Project in 2018 to commemorate the launch of Elis Compact Guard sanitary napkins, a product dedicated to supporting women who continue to take on challenges. Since then, Daio Paper has kicked off the Heart Support Project every year on October 11, the International Day of the Girl*, in hopes to get people thinking about the situations girls face worldwide. (In 2021, the project began on February 1 because of the pandemic.) *The International Day of the Girl was declared by the United Nations in 2011 to broadly call on the international community to promote girls’ rights and girls’ empowerment. In 2023, we will continue to provide support to empower Zambian girls. A continuing initiative from the previous year, we will raise support for the making of cloth napkins through social media. As a new initiative, we plan to connect Zambia and Japan over the internet by holding the “World Girls Meeting 2023,” an online meeting where women in their late teens to early 20s talk about menstruation. With the theme of the meeting being “getting to know each other deeply,” we seek to promote mutual understanding between Japanese and Zambian girls of the same generation by giving them a platform to talk and discover the similarities and differences in how they live their daily lives, how they spend their period days, and how they think about periods. The Heart Support Project strives not only to provide material support but also to raise awareness to effect even a small amount of change in the situations women face. Through this project, Daio Paper will continue to provide opportunities for people to think and act on the situations of women around the world in order to help bring about richer lives for all.
