Mishima Mill

Mishima Mill—Produces about 8% of the Annual Paper Production Volume in Japan

The Mishima Mill, the Group’s most significant mill, undertakes the integrated production of paper and paperboard, starting from in-house production of pulp. Its total production volume is about 2.10 million t annually, which accounts for about 8% of the total paper and paperboard production in Japan.

Site area of 1.6 million m2 (equivalent to area of about 312 football fields) Produces various kinds of pulps, paper and paperboard integratedly (newsprint, printing and publication paper, business communication paper, wrapping paper, containerboard, household paper, etc.) Annual production volume amounts to about 2.1 million t. One of the largest-scale coastal paper mill, and the main production mill of the Daio Group. (The Daio Group produces a total of about 3 million t annually, which is about 10% of total domestic paper and paperboard production.) Mishima mill’s docking facilities allow four 100,000-t class cargo ships to berth at the same time to unload raw materials such as woodchips and coals.

Different grades of paper requires different types of pulp. Mishima mill possesses the pulp production facilities that can produce various types of pulps, such as both hardwood pulp and softwood pulp, mechanical pulp and recovered paper pulp. In addition, each pulp production facility is connected to the 16 paper machines via transportation pipes, hence making it possible to switch production to other grades of paper efficiently in order to meet the needs of the market.

Kani Mill — Second-Largest Production Mill of the Daio Group (Site Area: 303,000m2)

As with the Mishima Mill, it incorporates an Environmental Monitoring System and has a structure in compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
