Making a Leap Forward as a Full-Range Paper Manufacturer

Daio Paper made successive investments in new machine installations and capacity expansion aimed at productivity improvement and providing stable supply in a wide variety of papers including printing paper and communication paper in addition to its mainstays, newsprint and containerboard, thus establishing a solid base as a full-range paper manufacturer.

1961
Daio Paper is listed on the first section of the Osaka Securities Exchange and the Tokyo Stock Exchange

1963
Daio Paper installs in-house power generation facilities at Mishima Mill (Turbine No. 1 and boiler)

1966
Daio Paper’s study abroad program sends first student to University of Maine, U.S.A.

1967
“Daio Maru” is commissioned in May as the first ship dedicated to transporting woodchips from North America, and puts into Mishima port for the first time in July

Reclamation work begins at Section A of the Muramatsu Industrial Park (Continues until September 1973)

1969
Daio Paper installs deinked pulp manufacturing facility at Mishima Mill and begins production of deinked pulp

1972
Reclamation work begins at Section B of the Muramatsu Industrial Park (Continues until May 1975)

1973
Daio Paper installs paper machine N1 (Inverform 5 layer/linerboard) at New Mishima Mill

Daio Paper installs recovered paper processing facilities (for production of containerboard)

Daio Paper installs paper machine N2 (Inverform 5 layer/linerboard) at New Mishima Mill

Daio Paper installs paper machine N3 (Fourdrinier/newsprint 8,130mm trim width) at New Mishima Mill

1974
Construction of New Mishima Mill is completed

Elleair Golf Club opens in Saita town (Kagawa prefecture)

1975
Daio Paper opens Sales Head Office at headquarters, kicking off its unique sales structure to pave way to full-range paper manufacturer (the origin of the slogan, “to sell the products we have manufactured with our own efforts”)

1976
Third stage of general wastewater treatment system is completed (Facilities for prevention of environmental pollution is completed between 1971 and 1976)

1977
Daio Paper installs Thermo-Mechanical Pulp (TMP) facilities

Daio Paper installs paper machine N4 (Bel Baie Former/newsprint) at New Mishima Mill (With completion of machine N4, Mishima Mill becomes the one of the largest mill at a single location in the world)

1978
Daio Paper makes full-scale entry into printing and communication paper market and begins manufacture and sale of PPC paper

1979
Mishima Mill wins Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Rationalization of Electricity Utilization at a Mill for fiscal 1978

Daio Paper starts manufacture and sale of form paper

Daio Paper starts manufacture and sale of Elleair facial tissue paper and makes entry into the household paper market

Daio Paper starts manufacture and sale of toilet tissue
